Orders to Canada
Canada and Cambodia are the only countries in the world which have a 2 kilo weight limit for small packages.
The books published by Peters are quite heavy. Unfortunately, this means that shipping to Canada is very expensive. Here are some of the weights:
Basics 915g
The Violin Lesson 1400g
Practice 1245g
So, for example, if all three were ordered together, they would have to be sent in three separate packages. In addition, the Canadian postal system is not quite reliable, and so unless items are sent with Tracking, they may take a month or two to arrive, or may even get lost entirely. For that reason, we have had to allow only Tracked shipping. This is what they cost to send:
Basics £19.18
The Violin Lesson £22.19
Practice £22.19
Total shipping would cost us £63.56. Trying to help the customer, we are charging only £54.00 instead.
Furthermore, the Peters recommended price for Practice and The Violin Lesson is £36.95. We sell them instead for £32.00. The Peters recommended price for Basics is £32.50. We sell it instead for £28.00.
The alternative is for you to buy these books from a retailer in the USA. Unfortunately, then you may find that while you pay much less for the shipping, you pay much more for the books themselves.
We are very sorry about this. The only solution is to have a distributor in Canada, but we don't.
Double Stops is similarly heavy at 1400g. The Scales book is 845g, so Basics and Scales can be sent together in one package.
The Warming up books, and Tone: Experimenting with proportions, and the DVDs, are all much lighter, and together do no exceed the 2 kilo weight limit.
Another alternative for us to consider, is simply not to supply any of the heavy books. So far, however, we continue to supply them.
